Max Kade Center

The Max Kade Center for Contemporary German Literature at Washington University promotes exchange between American and German-speaking writers, critics, and scholars. Founded in 1984, it hosts annual visitors, supports summer research through Max Kade and DAAD grants, and houses the nation’s largest collection of post-1965 German literature. The Center also publishes Gegenwartsliteratur, a peer-reviewed yearbook on contemporary German-language literature, and serves as a hub for international literary scholarship and collaboration.
